SBHRS Organization Information

 

General Membership Information:

Our membership is always open and we are looking for new members wishing to enjoy themselves and participate in our many activities, ranging from historical building renovation to the building and the operating of scale model railroad displays. Experience is not necessary. We have members with all levels and areas of expertise. We learn new skills from each other while doing the work.

For those wishing to join and participate in our organization's activities, the tax-deductible initial membership and monthly donations are currently as follows:

Meetings and General Activities:

  • We are normally open Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and on Saturdays from 10:00am to 3:00pm, except for Christmas and New Years Day.
  • General membership meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of odd numbered months starting at 7:30pm. These informal meetings may consist of railroad slide or video presentations, interactive discussions, how-to clinics, or workshops.
  • Corporate membership meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of even numbered months starting at 7:30pm. These meetings are intended for Corporate members and invited guests and are used  to conduct official Society business.
  • Other Tuesday evenings are for operating and working on the HO and N scale model railroad displays, general interactive discussions, train watching, and socializing.
  • Saturdays are devoted to working on various Santa Clara Depot and Tower complex renovation and maintenance projects, weather permitting. After renovation and maintenance projects are completed, we also spend time working and running on the HO and N scale model railroad displays.
  • Members may work on the scale model railroad displays on other days by becoming involved in informal workgroups or special interest groups.

Donations:

The SBHRS is an IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit corporation (#77-0071257), incorporated under the laws of the State of California, whose goals are the renovation and preservation of the Santa Clara Depot and Tower complex along with the establishment and operation of a railroad museum and library. The SBHRS is always looking for individuals or groups wishing to donate or loan railroad artifacts and memorabilia to the museum. All donations, monetary and material, are tax deductible. Recognition is given to donors and lenders for all items.
